Funeral services for Eric will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale, with Pastor Luke Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Maine Prairie Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., with additional visitation one hour prior to the ceremony at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel.

Born on July 2, 1974, in Rochester, Minnesota, to John and Carol (Hilary) Geers, Eric spent his early years in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1993. He continued his education at Rochester Community and Technical College before earning a degree in elementary education from St. Cloud State University.

Eric’s passion for teaching found its home at Big Lake Schools, where he made a lasting impact on his students and colleagues alike. His love for education was matched by his devotion to his nieces and nephews, whom he cared for with the same enthusiasm and generosity he brought to his work. In addition to teaching, Eric worked part-time at Cash Wise in St. Cloud.

Beyond his role as an educator, Eric embraced the outdoors through hobbies like hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed gardening, raising poultry, and spending time with his family. A fan of vintage westerns, war films, and history, Eric’s love for storytelling and its lessons resonated throughout his life.

Eric’s kind and generous spirit will forever be remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy as a dedicated educator and loving family member will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and community.

Survivors:
Eric is survived by his parents, John and Carol Geers of Rochester; siblings Stephanie (Jim) Duda of St. Michael, Heather (Josh) Helberg of Clear Lake, Aaron (Jaime) Geers of Dodge Centre, and Emily (Josh) Sigrist of Cottage Grove. He is also remembered by his beloved nieces and nephews: Jannel Jensen, Jessica House, Jolene and Jared Duda, Molly and Elijah Helberg, MacKenzie and Gabby Geers, and Julian, Ada, and Jacob Sigrist, as well as great-niece Callie Weber and great-nephew Brody Jens.

Preceded in Death

Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Neil and Sally Hilary, Henry G. and Geraldine Geers, and his aunt, Sandra Rothstein.

Casket Bearers

Jim Duda, Jared Duda, Josh Sigrist, Josh Helberg, Jon Morris, Jessica House, Zachary House, and Jolene Duda will serve as casket bearers.

Arrangements for Eric’s funeral services are being handled by Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.

Eric’s compassionate and generous legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
