Greta Stoliar was the beloved wife of the late Jerry Stoliar and the cherished daughter of the late Ben Schwartz and Sylvia (Spelky) Schwartz. She was the devoted sister of the late Birnadine Birenbaum (the late Paul) and Jeanie Pollock (Neil), and a loving sister-in-law to Eunice Reichman (John). Greta was predeceased by her daughter Robin Lloyd (survived by Mike) and is survived by her children Suzy Klamen (Kelly) and Scott Stoliar (Joellyn).
Known as “Baubi” to her grandchildren—Ryan (Chelsea), Chad (Lauren), Jake Klamen (partner Mikey), Michael (partner Robyn), Lauren Stoliar, and Nikki Lloyd—Greta’s warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on their lives. She was also a beloved great-grandmother to Nora Stoliar and Winnie Klamen, and step-grandmother to Sydney Greenberg (partner Josh) and Sony Oliff.
An Influential Educator and Community Leader
Greta graduated from University City Senior High School and went on to earn her B.A. in Education from Washington University. She began her teaching career in St. Louis before joining her husband, Jerry, on the Pacific Island of Guam, where he was stationed with the U.S. Navy. There, Greta became the Director and Co-Founder of the first Child Care Center and Kindergarten at the Naval Base, playing a pivotal role in shaping early childhood education for military families.
A Life of Adventure and Dedication
Beyond her professional achievements, Greta had an adventurous spirit and a zest for life. She loved to travel, enjoyed trail hiking, and was an avid reader. One of her favorite retreats was her home away from home at the Lake of the Ozarks, where she spent many memorable moments with family and friends.
