Aaron Kime Boat Accident: A tragic accident occurred on the Ohio River early Monday morning when 48-year-old Aaron Kime fell from his boat and went missing. After an extensive search, the Gallatin County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) confirmed that Kime’s body was recovered on Tuesday afternoon near the location where he had fallen into the water.
The incident took place in the quiet town of Warsaw, Kentucky, near Paint Lick Road. Kime was out on the river with friends, enjoying a late-night boat ride. The group was returning from a leisurely boating trip, not related to any large events like the summer festival Riverfest.
Around 3 a.m., while seated on his boat, Kime stood up and tragically lost his balance, falling overboard into the dark water. Despite his friends’ immediate efforts to rescue him, they were unable to reach him in time.
The Gallatin County Sheriff’s Office and other authorities were quickly notified and launched a large-scale search and rescue mission involving multiple agencies. As daylight arrived and initial efforts to find Kime proved unsuccessful, the operation shifted from rescue to recovery.
Gallatin County Emergency Management Director Brandon Terrell reported that the search continued into Tuesday, with numerous agencies and resources dedicated to the effort. Kime’s body was ultimately found just before 12:30 p.m. in the area where he had fallen.
The recovery effort involved at least 10 different agencies, including the Gallatin County Fire Department, Jeff-Craig Fire Department, Kentucky Fish and Wildlife, and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, among others. These agencies utilized boats and sonar equipment to aid in the search, demonstrating their dedication and commitment over the two-day recovery operation.
