Ayuk Etta of Lanham identified as man dead, four hospitalized in Maryland car crash

Maryland State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred on the Outer Loop of Interstate 495 at Route 50 in Prince George’s County on the evening of Sunday, September 15. The accident resulted in one fatality and four individuals being hospitalized.

The deceased has been identified as Ayuk Etta, 40, from Lanham. Etta was pronounced dead at the scene by Prince George’s County Fire/EMS personnel. He was outside his vehicle at the time of the crash.

The incident, reported at approximately 8:50 p.m., involved a 2016 Honda Pilot and a 2018 Mercedes sedan. Preliminary reports suggest that the Honda Pilot, traveling northbound on I-495, lost control and rear-ended the stationary Mercedes, which ended up on the left shoulder of the highway.

In the Mercedes, passengers Miranda Nembo, 39, and Mayah Nembo, 24, were transported to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center but have since been discharged. The nature of their relationship to Etta or to each other has not been disclosed.

The Honda Pilot was occupied by five male friends from Prince George’s County. The driver, Biruk Grimes, 19, and two passengers, ages 18 and 19, declined medical attention. Two other occupants, Olauwadamilola Fatokun, 18, and a 17-year-old, were taken to Luminis Health Doctors Community Medical Center for treatment.

The investigation into the details surrounding the accident is ongoing.
