A tragic accident at a construction site in Nebraska has claimed the life of a long-time Elkhorn Public Schools employee.
Kevin Garrison, the district’s maintenance supervisor, died while working at a geothermal well near Elkhorn North High School. The incident occurred Wednesday morning at a job site located at North 180th Street and West Maple Road in northwest Omaha.
First responders, including Douglas County deputies and Omaha fire rescue teams, arrived around 10:30 a.m. after reports of an injured worker near the football field. Garrison had entered the geothermal well to address an issue but became unresponsive.
Elkhorn Public Schools confirmed Garrison’s passing in a statement, noting his two decades of service to the district. “Kevin was a dedicated, long-time employee who was beginning his 20th year with Elkhorn Public Schools. Our deepest condolences go out to the Garrison family, including his wife, Deb, an EPS principal, and their daughters, Nikki and Rachel, both current EPS teachers,” the district shared in an email to staff and families.
